The Dog, the Cock, and the Fox

The Dog, the Cock, and the Fox
Aesop's Fables - The Dog, the Cock, and the Fox

A dog, a rooster, and a fox were traveling through the forest when they spotted a ripe, juicy pear hanging from a tree.

"Look at that pear!" the dog exclaimed. "I'm sure it's delectable. I will climb up and obtain it!"

The rooster and the fox saw the dog as it climbed the tree and stretched for the pear. However, just as he was going to eat, he slipped and fell to the ground.

The dog cried out, "Ouch!" as he rubbed his wounded head. "It hurts!"

"You get what you deserve, Dog," remarked the cock. "You should not attempt to perform things you are not proficient at. Stick to your expertise."

"I concur," replied the fox. Furthermore, the pear is likely too high for you to reach anyway.

The dog recognized that the rooster and the fox were correct, so he gave up his pursuit of the pear.

"Thank you for your assistance, men," he responded shyly. I should probably stick to hunting rabbits rather than climbing trees.

The conclusion of this story is that we should recognize our limitations and focus on our strengths. It's acceptable to try new things, but we must also know when we're not fit for a certain task and be willing to seek for assistance or guidance.
